Land Rover brought a new level of luxury to the LA Auto Show. A Range Rover that's hand-finished, with maximum comfort for rear seat passengers. And the Range Rover SVAutobiography costs almost as much as a Bentley Bentayga.
It's based on a long-wheelbase 2018 Range Rover. But then Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations folks add more. More luxury, more comfort, and more features.
Rear seat passengers get an NBA centre-ready 1,200 mm of legroom. They sit in seats with special foam with more layers for extra comfort that are 22-way adjustable. The seats have a 40-degree recline, heated calf and foot rests, and a hot stone massage function. Land Rover calls them "airline style" seats, but these look more inviting than any airline seats we've seen.

Those magic seats are sitting astride a special console that extends the full length of the second row. The console holds controls for the power closing rear doors, the electronically deployable tables, and a fridge that will hold two 750 mL bottles and two glasses. That's right, power folding rear tables.
There are even more luxury touches for the rear seat. Like a clock from Swiss watchmaker Zenith, twin 10.1-inch screens, exclusive leather options, and two veneers and five colour schemes that are only for the SVAutobiography. Oh, and optionally, the rear cargo area is a wood veneered platform that is powered to slide in and out to make loading luggage easier.
We're sure the front seat is nice too, but the passengers in the rear are the focus of this one. They'll be propelled along by a 557 hp supercharged 5.0L V8 and an eight-speed automatic. The SVAutobiography keeps Land Rover's Terrain Response system, meaning that this Range Rover keeps its off-road abilities.
To let those around you know you're sitting in the back of a special Range Rover, the SVAutobiography has special 22-inch wheels along with a unique grille and rear bumper.
The 2018 Range Rover SVAutobiography is available to Canadian customers starting early next year. The price starts at $233,000, or about $10,000 less than the starting price of a Bentayga.
